Marrakech

After a fun (!) night in the San, all fifteen of us managed to get to Gatwick at some ungodly hour, and Easyjet successfully got us to Marrakech mid-morning. Having met up with the ever friendly and reliable Rainer, we transferred to our hotel, and after a recovery snooze and our first birds (Alpine, Little and Pallid Swifts and House Bunting), hit the Djemma El Fna. Argh!

Snake-charmers, dancers, henna artists, heavenly OJ, monkeys, a hedgehog and more - our senses were assailed, and the souk just about finished us off. And we nearly lost three of them! A great feed at #117 ("takes you to heaven"), and then crash out time.

We enjoyed a second afternoon and evening in Marrakech on our return after the end of the tour. Everyone was much mroe relaxed and confident this time, and enjoyed the haggling thoroughly. In fact, it was Simon, Julia and Rainer who got lost and were late for dinner!

A great place to begin and end our 10-day tour.

J outside the hotel while "the chaps" go shopping. What would Mr Wyke say?
And as for this lot - don't even go there.... (photo: T. Spence)
